Wisdom Calls Aloud!

Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares.  She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words:  “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.” (Proverbs 1:20-22; NKJV)

Who are these people?

1.The Simple
–Believe anything, examine nothing.
–Gullible, easily led astray.
–Blank look on their face.

2.The Scoffers
–Think they know everything.
–Laugh and sneer.

3.The Fools
–Not low IQ or poor education.
–Choose to be ignorant.

Hidden in My Heart

"For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14; NKJV)

The Holy Scriptures

2 Timothy 3:12-17; NKJV

12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

1.  Continue in the Holy Scriptures.

2.  Be complete in the Holy Scriptures.

3.  Be thoroughly equipped for every good work through the Holy Scriptures.

Grandma, Mom, Son/Grandson

2 Timothy 1:1-7; NKJV

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2 To Timothy, a beloved son:

Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,

4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,

5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Grandma - Lois

Mom - Eunice

Son/Grandson - Timothy

Teach your children.  Let your grand kids see Christ in you.  Encourage them to develop a faith of their own.

The Shema

Deuteronomy 6:1-9; NKJV

1 Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess,

2 that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you — 'a land flowing with milk and honey.'

4 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!

5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

The Hebrew word for "hear" is Shema.  "The Shema" is Deuteronomy 6:4-9.  Jehovah wanted His people to hear and do.

From The Beginning

GOD designed marriage for men and women.

GOD created gender differences, male and female (Genesis 1:27).

GOD declared that a man would cleave to a woman (Genesis 2:24).

In addressing marriage “from the beginning,” Jesus said, “He who created them…made them male and female” (Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6).

GOD’S created order is for a man and a woman to be joined together in marriage.

Hidden in My Heart

"For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14; NKJV)

Good Homes in a Wicked World

Colossians 3:18-21; NKJV

18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

Good homes in a wicked world are only possible if everyone within the home submits to their God-given role.

As to the Lord

Ephesians 5:22-33; NKJV

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Finding it hard to submit?  Consider the goodness of the Lord Jesus.  Submit "as to the Lord."

Older Women, Younger Women

Titus 2:3-5; NKJV

3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things —

4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

The older women are to admonish the young women to...

1.  Love their children.

2.  Be discreet.

3.  Be chaste.

4.  Be homemakers.

5.  Be good.

6.  Be obedient to their own husbands.

The older women are to admonish the young women to be these things so that the word of God will not be blasphemed.

Submissive

1 Peter 3:1-7; NKJV

1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,

2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward — arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel —

4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,

6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.

7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Submissive - hupotasso -

1.  to subordinate; reflexively, to obey (Strong's)

2.  to arrange under, to subordinate; to subject, put in subjection (Thayer's)

3.  primarily a military term, "to rank under" (hump, "under," tasso, "to arrange") (Vine's).

Subordination Within the Godhead

There is subordination within the GODHEAD.

“the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)

Christ sent the Spirit (John 14:26; 16:7)
–God the Father
–God the Word
–God the Spirit

Within the GODHEAD there is subordination of operation, but not in existence or in essence!

Psalm 127

Psalm 127; ASV

1 Except Jehovah build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except Jehovah keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of toil; (for) so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; (and) the fruit of the womb is (his) reward.

4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be put to shame, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

The First Kids

The first family was dysfunctional.  Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden for their rebellion against God.  Cain killed Abel.  And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, "For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed" (Genesis 4:25; NKJV).

And Jehovah said unto Cain, "Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brother's keeper?" (Genesis 4:9; ASV).

Cain was his brother's keeper.  He chose to go his own way (see Jude 11).  Let us do better than the first kids.  Let us be about the business of being our brother's keeper to the glorification of God.

Sin Changes Things

Consider Genesis 3 and how sin changed Adam and Eve's attitude towards:

1.  Themselves

2.  God

3.  Each Other

Sin destroys relationships.  Resist the serpent's temptations.  Have a good attitude toward yourself, God, and others.

Foundations For Marriage

In introducing the woman to the man God said, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24; NKJV).

1.  God created marriage.

2.  God designed marriage for men and women.

3.  God designed marriage for our good.

Elohim

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1; NKJV)

God - 'elohiym – plural; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative (Strong’s).

Elohim is the Hebrew plural noun which communicates the concept of the Godhead:
1. God the Father
2. God the Word
3. God the Spirit

In the physical creation the Father planned, the Word executed the plan, and the Spirit arranged and organized.

Genesis 1:26-28; NKJV

Then God said,"Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  Then God blessed them, and God said to them,"Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Elohim created us in Him image.  As image bearers we are responsible to them.  Let us glorify them in our lives!
